Q. ConvertEasy hasn't got a caption bar, so how do I move it?

A. "Grab" it in a blank area away from the scales, and drag it. You can resize it by dragging along the window edges like many other applications.

Q. File associations don't work. When I double-click on a ConvertEasy configuration file, Windows complains that it can't find ConvertEasy. Why?

A. This can happen if you move ConvertEasy after enabling file associations. To correct the problem:
  1. Show the ConvertEasy Preferences dialog, accessible from the File menu.
  2. Disable file associations and apply it.
  3. Re-enable file associations and apply it.

Q. The "My Conversions" button and menu option isn't visible, why not?

A. This will happen if ConvertEasy is configured not to show it, or if it doesn't find any conversion configuration files where it looks for them. Show the Preferences dialog, accessible from the File menu, and check that the "Show My Conversions from" option is selected. Then check the location used - it will either be "My Documents\My Conversions", or the "Conversions" folder beneath the application installation folder (usually "C:\Program Files\SadMan Software\ConvertEasy\"). You should store your conversion files under the selected folder, then ConvertEasy will detect it and add it to the My Conversions menu, and the "My Conversions" option will be shown.

Q. I've made a new conversion, but the numbers are wrong, what causes this?

A. ConvertEasy needs to know the values of two equivalent points on each scale. These numbers must be equivalent - that's very important. So for example, I could set the minimum value of the top or left scale to have a value of 0 degrees centigrade, and the minimum value of the bottom or right scale to have a value of 32 degrees Fahrenheit, as these two values are equivalent, that is, they represent the same temperature. The corresponding values of the maximums could be 100°C and 212°F respectively, as these two values also represent the same temperature. Instead of minimum values of 0°C and 32°F, I could have chosen -40°C and -40°F, as these two values are also equivalent. It doesn't matter what values I choose, as long as they are equivalent on both scales. If the minimum and maximum values are equivalent on each scale, then the conversion will be correct.

Q. How do I know the equivalent value for my conversion?

A. First, decide on the range that you want to show. For example, you might want to show 0 to 100 lb, or perhaps 500 to 1000 lb. Then, look up the equivalent values for this range for the other scale. You could look this up in a reference book, or there are many web sites that provide this sort of information. So for our example, it could be 0 - 45.359237 kg, or 226.796185 -  453.59237 kg. Enter these values for the Minimum Value and Maximum Value of the second scale. That's it. Once you've entered these numbers, you've got quick and easy conversion in the range of data that you need.
